I want Apple to do something for the emerging makets. It would be awesome if the 5C sells at 300$-400$ rangeav rohitknhs via CNET 9/9/2014 4:00:44 PM

I am really hoping Apple has a very compelling fitness tracker in the iWatch. Having shopped for one recently that space is full of compromises and poorly implemented innovation. Apple has to have something better.av Jennifer Steiner via CNET 9/9/2014 4:00:53 PM

It would be interesting to me if they finally decided to support external storage (like micro sd), only in a super kewl way that would allow data to be stored between (watches, phones...etc).....so that bluetooth and other networking isn't required if it can not be used.av kerberose via CNET 9/9/2014 4:00:57 PM

Consumers, analysts, and investors have been waiting for Apple to introduce the “amazing” new products that CEO Tim Cook has promised for more than a year.av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:54:59 PM

Cook, who took over as CEO from Steve Jobs three years ago, hasn’t yet taken the company into new markets beyond those established by his former boss. But he’s now expected to do just that with wearables, mobile payments, and other possible arenas.av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:55:07 PM

@kcbrez: "I'm betting on some kind of multimedia presentation." -- There will definitely be media today, in multiple formats. CD-ROMs? Somewhat unlikely.av Tim Stevens via CNET 9/9/2014 4:55:11 PM

In late May, Eddy Cue, head of iTunes and the man behind Apple's $3 billion acquisition of headphone and streaming music service provider Beats, upped the pressure by boasting that the consumer-electronics giant is working on its "best product pipeline in 25 years."av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:55:27 PM

"Please take this moment to switch all electronic devices to silent mode."av Tim Stevens via CNET 9/9/2014 4:55:48 PM

It’s vital for Apple to expand beyond its current product offerings. The company hasn't entered a new category since Jobs unveiled the "magical" iPad tablet in 2010, and every new version of the iPhone, iPad, and Macintosh computer since then has been deemed "evolutionary" rather than "revolutionary" by reviewers and customers.av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:56:04 PM

You can do the same at home, feel like you're part of the action here at the event? For bonus points, have someone step on your toes as they try to shuffle into impossible-to-reach seats.av Tim Stevens via CNET 9/9/2014 4:56:08 PM

Apple generates about two-thirds of its sales from the iPhone and iPad, but the markets for those gadgets are becoming saturated, with rivals from Amazon to Google to Microsoft to Samsung battling for customers and the billions they spend on mobile devices.av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:56:08 PM

Soumen Ganguly, a director at consulting firm Altman Vilandrie & Co., told me last week that "A lot of other companies don't need to be as bold on a frequent basis as Apple.” But people have come to expect it from Apple, he added. "They're only as good as their last great product, and we're four years away from that."av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:56:20 PM

Yeah, Tim. The aisles here are not the most convenient. haha. There's no aisle down the middle so everyone who got here early took the seats on the sides so then everyone has to file past to get to the other seats.av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:56:56 PM

As Tim has mentioned, today we’re expecting one or two new iPhones with bigger screens, an iWatch, mobile payments, health-centric features, and home-automation apps.av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:58:04 PM
-
The new iPhones likely will feature 4.7- and 5.5-inch screens, bigger than the 4-inch screen Apple has used since the iPhone 5. The 5.5-inch device would be a phone-tablet hybrid, called a phablet, and would again put Apple in direct competition with Samsung and its Galaxy Note phablets.av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:58:20 PM
-
Apple initially designed its touch screen so it could be operated with one hand, and Cook -- and former CEO Steve Jobs -- resisted moving to a larger display partly for that reason.av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:58:32 PM
-
There’s also speculation Apple will include a near-field communications, or NFC, chip in its new iPhones and wearable. The short-range technology makes it easy to pair two devices by holding them very close to each other. It also allows you to do things like pay for things with your phone by touching the device to an NFC-enabled point-of-sale terminal.av Shara Tibken via CNET 9/9/2014 4:59:12 PM

@leaveit2wheeler says "i want a wrist band with a jet pack" -- I'm honestly not sure that the market is ready for a wrist-borne jetpack. People still aren't comfortable with jet-powered backpacks. I think we need to wait for those to reach a higher rate of adoption before people feel confident about slapping a pyrotechnic device on their arm.av Tim Stevens via CNET 9/9/2014 4:59:16 PM
